Blackpool Landlord loses license in smoking bid
Once again Hamish Howitt stands defiant against the law!
After smoking himself and allowing customers of his establishment to smoke it looks like he has lost his battle against the no smoking ban.
Whilst he has vowed to fight this decision, the future is looking bleak for his licensee.
The final ruling was made on health and safety concerns, which over ruled his conviction for smoking in his premises.
Following advice from trading standard officers the Council Licensing panel made the decision to revoke his license for Delboy’s Sports Bar.
Mr Howitt had failed to show evidence of risk assessment and the air conditioning unit and staircase to the cellar were deemed unsafe.
Also known for failing two separate under age test purchases in the past three years, I am certain the odds were stacked against him!
Health and safety has never been such a big issue until now and unfortunately Mr Howitt showed “a lack of pro-activity in implementing health and safety measures.”
Is this is a sheer disregard for the law?
Although Mr Howitt genuinely believes there is a campaign of hatred against him.
Mr Howitt now has 21 days to appeal against the decision.

Good for him. The smoking ban is just another attack on our civil liberties. This government can make a crisis out of nothing. On the one hand we’re in crisis because we’re all living too long and on the other we’re in crisis over the nations health due to our eating drinking and smoking habits. Grrrr!
