Blackpool traders still suffering due to re-generation plans
I take the same walk down Adelaide Street as I always used to before the building.
But now this area the cornered off by a building site with dusty fumes, horrendous noise and on occasions fowl smells seeping from the pipes.
Beside the above most people would be put off or threatened by the large numbers of work men who on many occasions you can hear hurling abusive at each other and shouting inappropriate comments to ladies as they walk near by.
Remembering back, this street used to be so busy and Adelaide Street was frequently used to get to the side entrance of the Hounds Hill.
The reality of this insight is damning, are we able to secure the future for independent businesses in this town?
Most large retailers would be hit hard with a 50% drop in sales!
One trader has already had to close up shop and now the other three traders are having to lay off staff and remain fighting for survival.
Everyone is aware progress has to be made in this town to benefit us all but at what cost?
One trader said “We have become the forgotten corner of Blackpool’s traders.”
