Blackpool International Beach Volleyball
New to Blackpool, we would like to introduce International Beach Volleyball. This event takes place in Blackpool at St Chads Headland, Blackpool Promenade on the 14th and 15th September between 10am-9pm when the resort will host the UK’s first ever-floodlit beach volleyball tournament.
On Thursday 13th September beginners will be able to try their hand at volleyball with organisers planning a youth and community tournament.
Eight all-female teams will battle it out in the Olympic Sport in a custom built, 1000-seater arena on the iconic Blackpool Promenade.
Leading players from the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain will take part as precursor to the city’s desire to host a European tour event in 2008 and world tour event in 2009.
Blackpool’s world famous sandy beaches will be providing the sand for the event and will later be re-used subsequently as in-fill for the new areas of the sea wall.
Blackpool’s International Volleyball 2007 event will coincide with the Illuminations and The World Firework Championships.
Spectators of the volleyball event will catch one of the heats for the Firework Championships from their seats.
Organisers are also planning a light and fire show on a special stage during breaks in play, making this one of the autumns must-see family shows.
Tickets are FREE but must be obtained to gain access to the event.
Tickets will be divided into 2 half-day sessions for the main days of Friday and Saturday.
Friday - 10am – 2pm - Heats
Friday - 4.30 - 8.30pm - Heats and audience will be able to watch the World Fireworks from their seats at 8.30pm
Saturday - 10am - 2pm - Heats
Saturday - 4.30 - 9pm - Semis, playoffs & finals including fire show

I filled in the application for tickets and was aware that i would have to go to the tourist information office opposite the tower.
However when i rang them up to confirm this they knew nothing about the tickets, just saying to turn up on the day of the event.
Please can you confirm this

Yes that is correct R.Brookes.
However if you want to be “guaranteed” a seat for the Saturday and Sunday matches you must get a ticket.
You can do so from; http://www.volleyblackpool.com/tickets.php
